The hike from Mountain Rock to Gosaikunda last year was not only about travelling to the place but also about the trip of self-exploration. This was a spiritually-centred voyage. The Langtang region's pristine beauty and the quietness of Gosaikunda filled me with a unique sense of peacefulness and spirituality. Mountain Rock Treks did an excellent job in this aspect. The experts made us feel safe & secure but also filled us with knowledge about this day's customs and purpose. We joined in the festivities with the other pilgrims alike, and hence, we experienced a reality beyond that of the physical journey.
I did the Tilicho Lake trek with my family, and I had my parents (they are in their 50s) traveling with me who love to trek, but I knew the entire trek would not be possible for them. Mountain Rock Treks has organized a mix of trekking and jeep rides so that it makes it easier for everyone. The team was extremely cooperative; they adjusted the pace according to everybody so that we all enjoyed our time there! For me, doing Tilicho Lake with my family is something I will always cherish; if you plan a trip with your family and want some adventure plus comfort, this is definitely the way to do it.
Nepal unfolded like a holy tapestry on our 13-day pilgrimage. Mom and Dad, their faces etched with familiar devotion, visited Pashupatinath, the vibrant chaos a symphony to their prayers. We stood by the ghats, the Bagmati whispering tales of life and rebirth. Janakpur's charm unveiled Sita's story, leaving us with a newfound respect for our epics. Muktinath, perched high in the Himalayas, tested our resilience but rewarded us with the golden glint of Vishnu.
Hiking during this time was never easy, and our trip to the EBC was no exception. Luckily, Mountain Rock Treks offered a rescue – Ramechhap to Lukla flight. This changed the Itinerary; however, this was not a problem because Mountain Rock Treks were very flexible. The team was able to rearrange our flights in a very short time and make our trip to Ramechhap as easy as they could. The flight was also thrilling as we got a plane view of the Himalayan mountains. When we first landed in Lukla, we were energetic and ready for the actual trek because of Mountain Rock Treks.
Our Mt. Everest base camp (EBC) trek got off to a bump because my friend showed signs of altitude sickness at Namche Bazaar (3443 metres). Worrying about him, we contacted the company Mountain Rock Treks, and in a couple of hours, they arranged evacuation for him by helicopter to Kathmandu. An effective team that specialised in the transfer ensured a smooth and speedy process, with safety as a priority. Eventually, fortunately, he made a prompt recovery at a hospital in Kathmandu. Since one of us was suffering from altitude sickness that was limiting us from continuing our trek, the chopper service by Mountain Rock Treks made the medical evacuation a great one without a single worry of suffering.
Even though our original flight was delayed by weather, Mountain Rock Treks kept us appraised and rebooked as soon as the weather permitted them to do so. Their communications were great, and once we were airborne, the flight was smooth and stunning. Their professionalism has turned a potentially very stressful situation into some much easier to manage.
Mountain Rock Treks arranged for homestays along the Mundhum Trail, which provided ample opportunity for authentic cultural experience. The hosts were very friendly and generous, and impressed by the food.
The thoughtful and intentional choices of the company associated with accommodations, therefore, added a human dimension to the trek beyond that of a trek but an experience of cultural exchange.
I was looking for a very easy day hike after my trek to Everest Base Camp. I arranged the Nagarkot to Changu Narayan hike through Mountain Rock Treks and was given my own guide, Manoj, who was quite knowledgeable and quite patient.
