Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Tour 10 Days has to be the most devout and adventurous travel event, taken up every year by thousands, visiting the abode of Lord Shiva-Mount Kailash-and Lake Mansarovar in Tibet. Since time immemorial, Mount Kailash has been regarded as the spiritual abode of Lord Shiva for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and those of the Bon tradition; thus, of immense importance on grounds of religion. This 'yatra' is no mere voyage; spiritually enriched, the holy visit to seek blessings and saying a prayer, meditation, rituals by devoted pilgrims at this blessed venue.

Mount Kailash at a height, serene holy Lake Mansarovar right at the centre makes this trek unbelievably stunning. The holy bath in Mansarovar's lake, accordingly keeps human self clean and rejuvenated - purifying their souls and washing off all sin elements. The strenuousness of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Tour 10 Days-lying as it does in such an inaccessible region-combines to render it gruelling and cathartic. Depending upon the route taken, apart from one's physical hardship, pilgrims are often required to make a very arduous trek or go by vehicle, though the yatra from Nepal is perhaps the easiest and most organised.

Mount Kailash Yatra Trip 10 days boasts a magical blend of nature and spirituality. Mount Kailash is an unusual black granite peak that assumes a sharply symmetrical shape, often described as a natural symbol of divinity. This makes a "parikrama" or circuit around the mountain an act of merit and spiritual liberation for a host of people. Meanwhile, crystal clear waters of Lake Mansarovar reflect the snow-clad peaks sited around, thereby presenting a setting serenely inviting meditation and introspection.

10 days Kailash Trip Pilgrimage is possible from Nepal; as it's more hassle-free. Journey: in general, takes place from May to September, as in these months the conditions of the environment are favourable. The permit system is there for tour availability; for smooth travel logistics it will be advisable through government-authorized agencies. Travelling options are available individually and in groups, whose cost will depend on group sizes and itinerary duration.

We offer two routes for the 10 days Mount Kailash Tour:overland and by helicopter. Each route offers an unforgettable journey to the sacred Mount Kailash, the revered abode of Lord Shiva and a holy place for Hindus all over the world. A helicopter tour is ideal for those who have less time and yet want to fulfill their pilgrimage in a short span of time. It starts with the flights from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj to Simikot and then takes a helicopter ride to Hilsa. Both travel options promise a memorable experience of this sacred destination.

Note: Currently, Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is open for Indian passport holders. Tours will be available during the months of May to September of the years 2025 and 2026 to both Indian and foreign passport-holding travelers.

What Is Kailash Parikrama or Kora?

Kailash Parikrama, also known as Kailash Kora, is a 32-mile trek of sacred Mount Kailash and also the main highlights of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Tour 10 Days. It is done in a clockwise direction only. Mount Kailash is believed to be a sacred home of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and hence, this trek is done by pilgrims who undertake it as a religious journey to attain spiritual salvation. The Parikrama will test your physical endurance as well as shape your mental beliefs. It generally takes around three days to complete the Parikrama due to difficult terrain and high altitude, causing low oxygen levels making breathing issues for many. But it’s not an ordinary trek; all along this transforming journey, you come across several sceneries that instantly connect you deeply down inside with divine bliss through the religious way of reverence and grandeur landscapes taking one towards palpable exhilaration by touching divinity in its purest form.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Full Moon Dates 2025

Most travellers like to plan their Adi Kailash Yatra 10 Days, during the full moon as the sparkling light of the moon over Mount Kailash and the pristine waters of Mansarovar Lake make the ambience so pious that it seems to belong to another world altogether. The full moon is also a symbol of purity, wholeness and enlightenment, hence making your prayers and meditation more meaningful. The view of holy adobes in the light of the moon becomes so surreal that you can actually see god living along with you.

What Is The Spiritual Significance of Full Moon Kailash Pilgrimage?

A full moon phase of the Kailash Parvar Tour Yatra has deeply profound spiritual implications, therefore making an already sacred pilgrimage even more intense. Under the luminous full moon, Mount Kailash-said to be Lord Shiva's abode-is bathed with divine light, pilgrims say, increasing the spiritual connection within themselves. Moonlight reflected by the snow-capped summit results in ethereal surroundings and creates an ambience where the essence of meditation and prayer can be more productive.

Most holy, however, is the full moon's reflection in the crystal waters of Lake Mansarovar.

According to the ancient texts, holy dips in the lake during this phase clean not only the body but the very soul. It is believed that many spiritual benefits emanate from circling Mount Kailash, with manifold claimed benefits on full moon days when heightened cosmic energies make the pilgrims feel their connection with the divine.

The above dates also fall on a very specific time of the traditional Buddhist and Hindu belief in the power of lunar energy for spiritual practices. Thousands of pilgrims perform most important rituals and meditation when there is a full moon; their prayers and mantras are more weighted spiritually during the full moon period.

The Places You WIll Be Visiting in Kailash Yatra Itinerary 10 days in 2025 and 2026

  • Yam Dwar

People visit Yam Dwar, also called "the Gate of the God of Death", as an essential location for Kailash Yatra pilgrims, which serves as their entrance to Mount Kailash's sacred territory, believed to be home to Lord Shiva. At Yam Dwar (name of Tibetan origin is Tarboche) people begin their journey of the Kailash Kora. On the full moon day of the fourth lunar month, each year, Tibetans organize a grand ceremony at Tarboche by changing the flagpole while performing songs, dances, and mantras.

  • Mansarovar Lake (4,550m)

Lake Mansarovar, at an altitude of 4,550 meters above sea level, holds the distinction of being one of the most sacrosanct lakes according to the traditions of Hindu and Buddhist followers. As per their beliefs, the creation of this lake was made by the mind of Lord Brahma and hence reflects a picture of purity and tranquility. The water is used for ritual bathing by pilgrims for spiritual cleansing and to garner blessings. Manosarowar offers great natural grandeur and panoramic mountain views. Talking about the culture, it, too, offers loads of significance to the pilgrims, who show performance of meditation and offer prayers around the lake through circumambulation and find supreme peace and spirituality connected with it.

  • Dolma La Pass

Along the Kailash Kora trail, Dolma La Pass dominates as the summit at 5,630 meters above sea level. Daunting climbing prospects combined with a thin atmosphere exist at this locale to measure your endurance levels and religious commitment. Dolma La stands as a holy mountain point that gives visually amazing vistas while holding deep religious value because pilgrims leave their problems before finding inner renewal. From Drolma La Pass, one can see Gauri Kund, which connects to Goddess Parvati since she bathed there before her marriage to Lord Shiva, bringing sacred importance into the religious tour.

  • Mount Kailash

Within Hinduism,Buddhism, Jainist, and Bon traditions, Mount Kailash stands as one of the world's most sacred sites at its height of 6,638 meters. Being Lord Shiva's divine home, Kailash remains unclimbable since mountain climbers have never reached their summit. Religious travellers perform Kora by walking around Kailash instead of attempting to reach its summit. Religious pilgrims consider this holy place a sacred entrance that gives profound spiritual cleansing while they circumambulate the entire Kailash area, which represents different religious beliefs.

  • Rakshas Tal

Rakshas Tal, also called "Lake of the Demon," is a saltwater lake lying west of Mansarovar Lake and south of Mt. Kailash. It has a mysterious aura attached to its name and is associated with Ravana, who did penance here. Interconnected with Mansarovar by the Ganga Chhu stream, Rakshas Tal contains four islands that locals use for yak grazing. The Tibetan name, Lhanag Tso, literally translates to "dark lake of poison" and expresses the balance of energies for the entire region of Kailash as sacred.

  • Dirapuk Monastery

Dirapuk Monastery is one of the most important halting points on the north side of Mount Kailash during the Kailash Yatra. It provides a very close view of the northern face of Kailash, which is holy for both Tibetan Buddhists and Hindu pilgrims. According to belief, the monastery holds the footprint of Guru Rinpoche, known as Padmasambhava, who meditated here. Some rare Buddhist articles also exist in it, including thangkas. Staying here helps in acclimatization besides the breathtaking sunset view of the north face of Mount Kailash.

Essential Info

Difficulty of Completing Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in 10 Days

Challenging Terrain and Altitude

Pilgrims who travel to the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra experience exceptionally difficult ground conditions when they near the mountain. The pathway consists entirely of rocky features because the trek has major physical requirements for completion. The journey exposes trekkers of all skill levels to demanding mountain climbs alongside rough ground paths. Travelers at risk of developing altitude sickness must be aware of the dangers at elevations reaching heights of 5,613 meters. Mental and physical preparation must begin early because climbers must develop stamina alongside mental strength to survive the long journey.

Harsh Weather Conditions

The weather at these elevated altitudes remains both unpredictable and brutal. During winter months temperatures often plunge meaning travelers face icy conditions combined with biting cold wind speeds. Users experience harsh sunlight during daytime hours that leads to sunburns and dehydration and face nearly freezing temperatures during nighttime. Travelers need to protect themselves from harsh conditions by layering insulation and waterproof clothes together with non-slip sturdy footwear for safe movement in icy areas. The trek becomes more difficult because of irregular weather patterns and low oxygen density along with these conditions.

Limited Access to Essential Supplies

The Kailash region maintains limited access to basic facilities because of its isolated location. Each day requires travelers to bring sufficient water and provisions for food eating together with essential supplies. For maintaining energy and hydration during the trek the recommended supplies include packaged foods combined with energy bars and electrolyte-rich drinks. Travellers must pack all vital supplies because there are very limited spots to recharge their supplies and rest along the way. The pilgrimage's logistical requirements necessitate advanced planning which presents an extra challenge to all participants.

Best Time for Kailash Mansarovar Tour

Mount Kailash faces persistent cold temperatures because of its elevated position in western Tibet. The yearly temperature variation in this region spans between -12°C and 14°C, followed by pronounced nighttime and daytime temperature differences. Freezing temperatures or worse than freezing levels regularly occur at night throughout this Tibetan region. The strongest winds blow during the cold seasons, which enhances the already cold climate.

Spring and Autumn (Apr, May, Jun, Sep, Oct)

You should plan your Mount Kailash visit during the spring months of April through June or the autumn season of September to October. The daytime climate throughout these seasons maintains temperatures between 5°C and 17°C. During spring, there is minimal rainfall, yet April sometimes brings snow, but by May and June, both travel and trekking become more comfortable. In autumn the plains display lush greenery and clear skies during early September. After the monsoon season, temperature levels stay comfortable while precipitation rates decline.

Summer (Jul & Aug)

Mount Kailash receives lower rainfall amounts during summer monsoon months (July and August) than Tibetan areas typically do. During daytime, the region experiences temperatures between 16°C to 22°C, but nights remain cooler. Visitors will find the landscape both beautiful and the flowers in full bloom during this season, but they should prepare for rain to occur occasionally.

Winter (Nov-Mar): Not Recommended for Visiting Kailash

Mount Kailash experiences severe cold winters, which create nighttime temperatures that drop below -20°C during January. The combination of snowfalls and icy road conditions creates dangerous travel conditions while turning several routes into impassable paths. The visit becomes less attractive because of short daylight periods and restricted services during wintertime.

Visas and Permits To Manage for the Kailash Mansarovar Tour

The Kailash Mansarovar Tour demands multiple travel permits and visas because it delivers both spiritual meaning and unique experience. The entire Kailash Mansarovar tour occurs within Kathmandu Nepal boundaries requiring visitors to possess Nepal Entry Visa and Chinese Group Visa together with Tibet Travel Permit access to Tibet.

Nepal Entry Visa

You need a Nepal Entry Visa for entering the country because the tour begins after reaching Kathmandu in Nepal. Visa applicants can get their documents at Kathmandu International Airport with ease. The immigration desk needs your valid passport and passport-size photo along with your visa fee payment to approve your visa application. The entry procedure represents a fast and convenient method that enables you to gain entry into Nepal before continuing your journey.

Chinese Group Visa

The Kailash Mansarovar Tour requires travelers to obtain a Chinese Group Visa because it leads to Tibet. Chinese Group Visa applications need your presence in Nepal for at least four to five days prior to your Tibet departure since the visa processing takes multiple working days. After your arrival in Kathmandu your tour operator will accept your passport and essential documents before submitting them to the Chinese Embassy. The embassy requires your physical attendance to complete their biometric processing. Once the Chinese Group Visa process finishes the document will be sent to you before you leave. Groups seeking this visa must have at least five members to be eligible.

Tibet Travel Permit

All travelers who wish to explore Tibet must obtain a Tibet Travel Permit as their primary authorization. Travelers must use a reputable travel agency to complete their itinerary before they can obtain this permit. Your passport copy and applicable documents will be submitted to the Tibet Travel Bureau (TTB) by your agency for processing. You will need about ten business days to receive your permit. Your Tibetan guide will give you the permit when you arrive in Tibet because you need it for your entire stay.

Altitude Sickness during Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra has the possibilities of Acute Mountain Sickness for the tourists as they reach Mount Kailash Parikrama at 5,630 meters and Lake Mansarovar at 4,590 meters. The effect of AMS is not similar in every case as some people have mild effects and some travelers have severe effects on their Kailash Mansarovar Yatra yatra. The pilgrims who practice yoga and other physical exercises before going to Yatra can better sustain AMS because their bodies allow it to survive. Tourists feel AMS with a headache that causes shortness of breath, sleep disorders and uneasiness in walking.

Health Precautions

As the people travel towards the elevation the body works hard to adapt due to less amount of oxygen availability. These include nausea and headache with coupled tiredness and breathlessness. Other symptoms may also include sleeplessness, confusion or irritability, and little energy. Altitude sickness can affect any kind of person whether young or old and whether fit or unfit. However, the body can ease it if you take enough time to adjust slowly.

Avoid sedatives-this is different kinds of medicines that can put you to sleep-strong antibiotics that are used for fighting infection and sleeping pills some while before taking off on your journey. This will make it hard for the body to adjust.

Guidelines for Managing Altitude Sickness

To minimize the impact of altitude sickness, it’s important that travelers do everything they can to help their bodies acclimatize by easing in gently – especially during the first few nights. Here are some basic pointers:

Rest as much as possible and exert yourself only when necessary.

  • Keep to small steps and do not let yourself be hurried.
  • Stay calm, do not talk or shout unnecessarily.
  • Walk a little and sit for while, don’t drain all your energy.
  • Keep yourself hydrated and don’t bog down, never start on hungry stomach.

To keep yourself in high spirits listen to calm music, recite prayers or mantras and think positive. Also prevent cold / feeling cold by properly dressing yourself keeping in mind your health.

What Physical Fitness Should Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Maintain as a Traveller?

Physical Fitness for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

People trying to complete the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra need excellent physical fitness. Health problems tend to intensify when people travel under these circumstances, so all travellers should resolve their medical problems before starting. Regular aerobic exercises along with strength-building activities will help your body build stamina and endurance, according to experts. The process of adapting to high-altitude oxygen requires proper breathing exercise training. A solid state of physical fitness prepares you to face the physical together with mental challenges that come with this spiritual journey.

Accommodations/ Hotel in Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Tour

Kailash Mansarovar, Tibet, trip provides all categories of accommodation facilities matching the pilgrimage experience. Accommodation slides down to basic guesthouses in these remote locations, starting from Darchen, Saga, Dirapuk, and Kerung. Though simple, these provide basic amenities required for a short sojourn. The provided facilities are such that they will suit the pilgrims in their basic needs and, at the same time, not disturb the spirit of the journey.

The remoteness of the region automatically makes dormitory accommodation the chief option. 3-8 pilgrims can fill these rooms.

Note that not all of Tibet has a single-room supplement. This is true for all travellers, not because of preference but rather because of the region's infrastructure and traditional way of hosting guests. Pilgrims should prepare to share rooms as part of their spiritual journey.

During the Kailash Yatra, travellers will be served nutritious and versatile meals in order to keep their energy intact for the journey. We provide Vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner every day within our package where each meal is a combination of different tastes and necessities. Though we make sure that the provided meal is wholesome and sufficient, we still advise travellers to carry some additional snacks with them purposely for a change. Items like Chocolates, biscuits, nuts, bhujiya & can items, etc. are easy to carry & can be consumed in between meals or as instant eatable too.

For Overland on the Tibet side, we have our daily meal plan where you can enjoy different dishes and beverages for different times and requirements:

  • Breakfast: Tea, Coffee, Milk & Hot Drink, Butter Toast, Puri Bhaji, Cornflakes & Muesli.
  • Lunch: For lunch, people have lemon rice, Pulau, and dal fry with a side of vegetables, salads, and sweets such as gulab jamun.
  • High Tea: Tea or coffee is served with biscuits, dalmote (a snack made from rice flour), and nimki (pastes made of gram flour).
  • Hearty evening meals feature dal, rice, roti, a variety of vegetable dishes, and desserts.

Insurance for Kailash Mansarovar Tour Yatra

You might want to insure your trip when you are coming for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. But please bear in mind that all international Insurance is invalid once you cross the Tibetan border. The travel insurance covers Nepal and up to Kerung (the border of Nepal & Tibet). It’s suggested because of the bad road conditions, if not available, you can get it from any country, or Travel Insurance can be purchased in Kathmandu; the current one costs about NPR 3,600.

Unfortunately, Insurance does not cover Tibet as Tibetan authorities do not provide any kind of official documents such as receipts or bills required by insurance companies. Therefore, it is best to get the Insurance for Nepal part and be assured that you are covered up to the Tibetan border for anything unexpected.

Important Things to Know as a Pilgrim Travelling to Mount kailash Area

Communication Facility

Access to communication facilities exists throughout the entire tour, yet the network stability becomes inconsistent while completing the Kailash Kora section. Guesthouses and hotels throughout the tour offer Wi-Fi service, though network speeds differ from place to place. A Chinese SIM card purchase provides the best communications solution because it establishes seamless messaging platform access. Using WeChat above WhatsApp or Viber provides the best communication option because it enjoys widespread user adoption throughout the tour. Before your journey, activate your WeChat account to experience better communication during your trip.

Laundry Service in a 10-Day Trip

Laundry service is available at your hotel in Kathmandu, but this service will be limited to Tibetan guesthouses. The larger towns and the Kailash city area do have laundry and dry cleaning facilities, but these are unlikely to be found in remote mountain areas. Extra charges will be applied for these services, especially in Tibet. If laundry is a priority, then plan on accessing these services in towns at the start of your journey, or pack a little extra for the mountainous areas.

Charging Devices

Charging facilities are available in hotels and guesthouses, but these are usually available at an extra cost. Remember to bring a suitable travel adapter, as plug types vary. Some regions might have limited access to power, and this is even worse in remote regions. In such a case, it will be a very great idea to take a portable charger or extra power bank. Generally, power facilities are more dependable in urban centres, and this is the opportunity to take full advantage and charge your equipment when going into the less accessible regions.

Internet Availability

In Kathmandu, the internet is available almost all of the time, and WiFi is provided in many 3-star hotels on the way. But in most guest houses during the trek, you will not have access to internet facilities. You can get a local SIM card in Kyirong, which you will need a 2x2 inch photo and a copy of your passport. You'll also need around 100 Chinese Yuan to buy the SIM card and another 100-300 Yuan for data. Do keep in mind that China has its own rules when it comes to internet usage, so certain access is restricted without a VPN, like Facebook & Instagram, but WhatsApp & WeChat works fine.

Cash, Currency and Card

We recommend bringing cash as Tibetan areas accept only Chinese Yuan. Exchange your currency to Yuan in Kathmandu or at the border. Always remember to have your guide with you during money exchange to avoid counterfeit issues. Credit cards are not widely accepted for international travellers. Usually, a Visa card can be used, but that only applies to Chinese domestic travellers. Cash is essential in order for your transactions to go smoothly and prevent any inconvenience when there's no access or limited access to card services.

FAQs

  • Q1. How do I reach the starting point of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from Nepal?

Pilgrims normally travel by road or helicopter from Kathmandu to the Tibetan border and then overland to Kailash. Some tours also have a flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa and then overland.

  • A valid passport and a special Tibet Travel Permit are required for this journey. These permits can be arranged through authorized travel agencies for Nepal-based travellers.

  • Yes, moderate physical fitness is required because of the high altitudes and difficult terrains, particularly for the circumambulation (parikrama) of Mount Kailash. Practice light exercises and altitude conditioning before the Yatra.

  • Senior citizens who are physically fit and have taken medical clearance can join Yatra. They may, however, take advice from their doctors.

  • Essentials include warm clothing, comfortable trekking shoes, rain gear, a first-aid kit and any necessary medication. Carry lightweight clothing that can be layered to suit the temperature.

  • Basic medical facilities are available, but they are limited, especially in remote areas of Tibet. Pilgrims should carry along all necessary medications and be prepared for first-aid requirements also.

  • Parikrama requires physical fitness; hence, persons with not-so-good fitness can do parikrama as well based on their capacity.

  • Yes, vegetarian food is usually available, particularly with organized tours that take care of their yatra's dietary requirements. The meals are generally simple, nutritious, and suitable for high-altitude travel.

  • The parikrama involves a trek, not a climb, 52 km around the base of holy Mount Kailash, usually lasting three days. It is said to erase our sins and those that accompany us on the journey.

  • The Yatra has to be undertaken through an authorized Travel Agent as travel in Tibet is not permitted for independent travelers. Also, it is advisable to travel in groups.

  • Pilgrimage Kailash Journey From Nepal

Mountain Rock Treks provided remarkable organizational skills during our Kailash Mansarovar Yatra pilgrimage. The team delicately handled this important pilgrimage, which I, as a Hindu, treasure throughout its entire journey. Our group walked through stunning locations to Lake Mansarovar along with Mount Kailash under professional guidance from experienced tour guides. The organization provided services to all types of guests including worshipful Hindu travelers performing sacred rituals and secular visitors in search of adventures. The unforgettable experience included both the dramatic natural views alongside the shared adventure spirit and the deeply spiritual essence of the place. Mountain Rock Treks thoroughly considered every minor aspect including information about acclimatization as well as nutritious cuisine suggestions. All the effort spent on this trip proved absolutely rewarding.

  • A Life-Changing Trip to Kailash Mansarovar

My Kailash Mansarovar yatra with Mountain Rock Treks was not just a trek‚ it was a spiritual journey for me. I opted for the tour, and the help extended by the team was admirable. The instructors took care of our well-being yet allowed us enough time for our prayers and meditation, too. I will never forget the magnificent view of Mount Kailash and the serene beauty of Mansarovar Lake. I also noticed that they do allow non-pilgrims, who can take it as an adventure trip altogether, to join us in this wonderful experience too. And Mountain Rock Treks handled it quite well, maintaining its balance.
