We shall pick you up from your hotel early in the morning, where our company representative will wait for you. You will then be taken to the domestic air terminal, Tribhuvan International Airport, via private transportation. After all the required formalities, you board in Helicopter and enjoy a 45 to 50 minute flight among the beautiful scenery from Kathmandu to Lukla. Along the way, you will see amazing sights. Grand mountains, hills full of green grasses, dense woods interspersed with meandering creeks and rivers, and big and small waterfalls are common to this landscape, along with an intricate array of colourful vegetation that caps off everything in a snowy blanket.

Another interesting highlight of your day is to land at the Lukla Airport, situated at 2860 metres, which is normally hailed as one of the most dangerous airports on earth. Arriving in Lukla, the excursion continues with a hike toward Monjo, passing by quaint Sherpa villages such as Ghat, Chungking, and Phakding. On this day, your morning starts with a delicious breakfast at a  hotel or lodge located at Monjo. The day route goes along the Dudh Koshi River. During the walk, you will also witness the delightful valley of blue pine forest, rhododendron, and fir vegetation in all the principal seasons. Similarly, we will see folks coming back with red faces and blistered lips. These are the locals who reside in the upper area. Donkeys and Dzos (a hybrid between a Yak and cow) are en route. While these donkeys pass, we should be cautioned and remain on the uphill side, far from their way. Similarly, you also need to pay attention to what you step on and into.

The Day hike is less strenuous and easier to walk through. 30 to 42 miles can be covered in about 5-6 hours. On your way, you will see the suspension bridge. The destination of the day, Namche Bazaar, arrives after crossing this metal grating underfoot, wrapped steel wires when you finally reach to stop at a place which is named Benkar. When you go to the high altitude area, altitude sickness always lurks in the background. The first leg of your journey is free of altitude sickness risks as you are just travelling from around 1,400 elevation to 2,800 metres in elevation. Afterward, we walk to Monjo and then to Namche bazaar. Some travellers may suffer from altitude sickness when they are in Namche Bazar or making a short hike to the Everest view. Either way, you will be with a professional guide to take care of you for 4 days. Even if you suffer from altitude sickness, they will help you and take the necessary steps to make you feel better. Here are some tips that you can adapt yourself to be safe from the effect of altitude sickness below: 

  • Get an in-depth program from the trekking company with elevation, walking distances, and time. 
  • Never let the elevation exceed 500 to 600m daily as you trek.
  • Go slowly, do not hurry, and rest well.
  • Drink a couple of litres of water every day, and do not indulge in alcoholic drinks or anything that can dehydrate your body.
  • If you notice any early symptoms of altitude sickness, such as headache, sleep disorder, difficulty breathing, or dizziness, let your team leader know and take whatever steps are necessary.
