Langtang Gosaikunda Lake trek itinerary details

Day 1: Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu

Welcome to Kathmandu. After you arrive at the airport, look out for the placard of Mountain Rock Treks. Next, you will be greeted by the representative of the Mountain Rock Treks, who will take you to your hotel in Thamel. After reaching the hotel, our representative will provide you with a short brief about the tour with the help of the map and itinerary.

Likewise, you can ask for a copy of the map and itinerary if you wish to carry them. Thamel is a great place to start your exploring time in Nepal. Here you can just stroll around the market or buy some gear and clothes required for the trek. Overnight will be at one of the best hotels in Thamel. 

Day 2: Drive to Syabrubesi by Bus/Private vehicle

After an early breakfast in Thamel, our journey starts with a short drive to Syabrubesi. The driving hours from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi are around 7-9 hours. There will be a few stops along the way, but not frequent, as you will travel by a local bus from Kathmandu. 

If you want, we can arrange a private jeep from Kathmandu toSyabrubesi, which provides a better and more comfortable journey with much more stops. While taking a road trip from Kathmandu, you will see beautiful scenery like terraced fields, typical Nepali villages, etc. The route up to Trishuli Bazaar will be smooth, so there will not be much trouble. But the road becomes more rugged as you reach  Dhuncheand then to Syabrubesi. Overnight will be at one of the tea houses of Syabrubesi. 
 

Day 3: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel

Our official trekking starts from Syabrubesi on the 3rd day of our journey. You will begin from Syabrubesi and pass through the Bhote Kosi to the Langtang River, following the  Langtang River. Likewise, you will walk past the green jungle and terraced fields. 

Moreover, as we continue the trek, we will pass through the Bamboo and then make a short acne to Rimche (located at the  Langtang River banks). En route to Lama Hotel village, you will encounter many rural settlements, birch forests, bamboo forests, and more. Here you may see rare animals and birds, including the most engaged ones, like a red panda. Overnight will be at Lama Hotel. 

Day 4: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village 

Today our destination is Langtang Village. And to reach our destination, we wake up early, have breakfast, and start our trek alongside the Langtang River first with a short ascend through the dense forests. As we trek, many beautiful vistas, like peak rising above 7000m and 8000m, greets us. We continue to trek until we reach the valley that widens out at places called Ghoda Tabela. We will stop here at Ghoda Tabela army, check the post, and register our papers to ascend further. 

From here, we will trek towards the east side of the river where Langtang Valley is located. We continued to trek through the prayer wheels and flags until we reached the Langtang village mainly inhabited by the theTamangas. Overnight will be at one of the tea houses of Langtang village.

Day 5:Trek from Langtang village to Kyangjin Gompa 

Today is a really shorter hike compared to yesterday. Our trek today starts at Langtang village and continues until we reach the Kyanjin Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is mainly celebrated for its incredible backdrop of peaks rising above the clouds. 

 Your trek starts early in the morning after a hearty breakfast amongst the views of peaks in Langtang village. We will further continue to trek and pass through the small abandoned villages once habited by the locals. Moreover, on a trek, we will encounter many tributaries and a glacial moraine accompanied by the peak's view en route. After around 3 hours of trekking from the Langtang Valley, we finally arrived at Kyanjin Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa was one of the largest settlements named after the ancient monastery. Most of the area got affected by the earthquake in 2015. 

Day 6: Hiking upto Chorkari ri and back to Kyangjn Gompa

We will send one extra night to Kyanjin Gompa for acclimatization. During your stay in Kyanjin Gompa, you will see Langtang Lirung Glacier looming close to the village, which is surrounded by the peaks like Langtang Yubra, Langtang Lirung, and Mt Changbu. You can enjoy the views around the town during your acclimatization day here.

In addition, you can also take a short hike to the Hanjin Gompa Monastery and Yak cheese factory, which also offers a great experience in terms of views. Moreover, you can also choose to trek to Langshisha Kharka, Tserko Ri (5450), which is the best viewpoint of the famous mountains peaks like Langtang II (6,596m), Langtang Lirung (7,227m) and Yala Peak (5,500m). According to our map and itinerary, Chorkari ri is scheduled today, so we start trekking from the Kyanjin Gompa hike to Chorkari ri for a few hours and descend back to  Kyanjin Gompa for the evening. 

Day 7: Trek down to Lama Hotel

We have explored the upper Langtang Valley region. Now it's time to bid goodbye to the upper Langtang region and return to Lama Hotel. We will start our trek early in the morning and take on the same route we took before that takes us out of the Kyanjin Gomba village.  During our trek, we will pass the Langtang Village tho and take a short break at Ghora Tabela for our lunch. Here we again register our exit at the army check post and continue trekking further through the dense forests until we reach  Lama Hotel.

Day 8: Trek from Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru

From the Lama Hotel, we will descend down to Thulo Syabru. We start our trek early, descend to the  Langtang Khola Banks, and cross the small waterfall. Today's trek will be easy, taking us through the bamboo forest and rhododendron forest path times with the wild lives and rare birds like monkeys and wild boar. Along the way, you can also see the Ganesh Himal at 7,422 m (24,350 ft). We will cross the suspension bridge leading to the Thule Syabru village's bottom as we reach our destination.  

Day 9: Trek from Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa 

Our today's destination is Sing Gompa. We will wake up early and climb gradually upwards until we reach Langtang National Park's army checkpoint. From here, we will continue to trek for another 30 minutes and reach Daragang. 

The trails from Daragang get less steep for treks and allying trees to navigate the route easily through the hemlock and oak forest. Rare and endangered wild animals like red pandas and more mainly inhabit this forest. Therefore there is an excellent chance of encountering such wildlife during your trek. We continue further and reach  Sing Gompa via the Dhimsa. If you want, you can trek further and stop at Cholangpati. But as per our itinerary, our overnight stay will be at one of the tea houses in Sing Gompa.

Day 10: Trek from Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda 

Today is the day when we will finally visit Gosaikunda Lake. We start our trek early and climb upwards with the backdrop view of the  Langtang Himal (7234 m). We will continue to trek towards the desolate, barren mountain trail now, and the views will improve due to all the Langtang Himalayan ranges in front of us. 

We will continue to climb further, and famous peaks like Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, and even the Annapurnas will greet us with clear views if we travel in the autumn and spring months. After a few hours of trekking, we will arrive at Laure Binayak, where we will make a short stop to refill our energies with food and snacks. 

From here, we continue to trek up toward Gosainkunda Lake. It will take 2 hours from Laure Binayak to reach Gosainkunda Lake. During our 2-hour hiking and climbing, we will pass through the chortens, which marks the closeness of the Gosainkunda Lake. We will finally reach the lake and see the views and the lake with its Kundas like Saraswati Kunda and Bhairav Kunda which are formed from the Gosainkunda Lake. This lake holds great religious significance in Hinduism and due to this many devotees visit this place in the fall season to celebrate the Hindu festival. 
 

Day 11:Cross over the Laurebina pass and descend to Ghopte

Today our map and itinerary take us to the Laurebina La High Pass,  which I also know is one of the high passes located at (4,610m / 15,115ft). Our trek starts early with a delicious breakfast. We will now take a path from Gosainkunda Lake that takes us down to the lake from the lodge we stayed at. We continue to trek towards the northern shores, where the routes get steep as we will soon be arriving at Laurebina La Pass; however, before we reach age, we must first hike through three or more three small lakes en route.

The Laurebina La Pass is mainly characterized by its stone stupa and many prayer flags hanging around. From Laurebina La Pass, we will make a decent hike to a wide valley where High Camp (4240 m) is located. Continuing to trek, we will hike through the steeper and rocky path leading to the Phedi. From Phedi, we descend to the footbridge across a stream. Today's trek will be long, so be prepared to take the challenges and rocky path to Ghopte. Overnight will be at one of the tea houses of Ghopte. 

Day 12: Trek from Ghopte to Kutumsang

We trek through enchanting juniper, rhododendron, and pine tree groves in a secluded and sparsely populated region. Today's journey from Ghopte takes us to the serene and picturesque highland destination of Tharepati. From Tharepati, the trail gently descends amidst the forest on the western ridge slope. After hiking for a while, we come across a vast meadow adorned with remnants of shepherd's huts. 

From this vantage point, one can marvel at the majestic peaks of Gangchempo and Dorje Lakpa. Continuing our descent, the path becomes steeper, leading us through a dense forest until we reach Magin Goth (3265m). Following a brief walk, we pass Kuala Bhanjyang (3335m) and descend further to the village of Kutumsang (2470m).

Day 13: Trek from Kutumsang to Chisopani 

After a night at Kutumsang, we will ascend and descend to Gul Bhanjyang village, located at (2140m). Likewise, we continue to trek and do a short climb, which leads us to the wide dusty road at Thorong Danda. From here, we again hike for some time and pass through the rocky path leading us to the Chipping village. 

From Chipping village, we descend and reach the Pati Bhanjyang (1760m). Pati Bhanjyang is a village located between Chipping and Chisopani. We can stop for a  few minutes here and continue trekking until we reach the Chisopani. This village is mainly famous for the peak of the mountain. Overnight will be at one of the tea houses of Chisopani. 

Day 14: Trek from Chisapani to SundariJal and drive by car to Kathmandu.

After exploring Chisopani village and beyond, we will arrive at the checkpoint of Shivapuri National Park. At this point, we take on a broad road that descends the hill before ascending again on a paved pathway. We will pass several water reservoirs and sizable water pipes until we finally reach Sundarijal (1460m) and then to Kathmandu by private car. 

Day 15: Final Departure 

Today, you will take a flight from Kathmandu airport to your homeland. Or you can extend your stay in Nepal for more trek and choose another famous destination to trek, Lik Everest Base Camp, etc.
