I trekked EBC 3 years back and wanted to do something a bit bigger challenge than just EBC; Gokyo Chola Pass Trek popped up the perfect plan. As per my friend's recommendation, I also used Mountain Rock Treks. They were fantastic at organizing everything. The trail was really hard, especially the climb to Chola Pass. Still, our guide kept motivating us, making sure we were fine. Tea houses across the Cho La Pass are basic, not as good as EBC ones, but still pretty decent compared to how remote that area is.
Shared jeep was great value compared to helicopter backups. At 4:30 AM in Thamel we were picked up by Mountain Rock;s guide. The good conditions of the Jeep handled Salieri's steep hills with ease. While seats were rigid, the crew provided fleece blankets and thermoses of hot water. We reached Surkhe by 7 PM, exhausted but thrilled to have avoided Luka’s fog. The company guides at the Lukla had our permits ready—no wait whatsoever. This route adds one extra day but cuts out all weather anxiety as well as the cancellations and Lukla flight postponement. Perfect for monsoon trekkers.
Mountain Rock Treks was efficient to get in most of the highlights of Bhaktapur Durbar, the Golden Gate, Vatsala Temple, and Bhairavnath in one day. Our funny and interesting guide kept things moving at every stop, and he got us through the very busy squares of Bhaktapur very well. Transport from the hotel to the site and back was timely and comfortable.
The festival at Tengboche Monastery is so energized and spiritual. The costumes and dances are incredible to witness, not to mention an up-close look into Sherpa culture. We also got to explore the surroundings, where we were literally breathless by some of the world’s tallest peaks. The staff took great care of us throughout, with yummy food and interesting explanations of the local culture. If you want more than just a trek in the mountains, don’t miss this festival trek! You won’t regret it.
The Short Everest Base Camp Trek with Mountain Rock Treks was worth every moment, effort and penny. The trek, although shortened to ten days, did not feel compacted. Our guide, Dorje, was amazing- his knowledge and excitement made the trip seamless. The sheer beauty of the Himalayas, from the mountains to village lifestyles, was indescribable. The team made sure we were well-acclimated and comfortable, providing nice hotels and meals all along. I enjoyed learning about local culture on this journey surrounded by adventure. If you want a thrilling, AMAZING adventure without a huge time commitment, Mountain Rock Treks is for you. Thanks for an amazing trip.
If you’re looking for a luxury adventure, this is the trek to do. Mountain Rock Treks made my dreams of the Himalayas come true, decked out in platinum fashion - I can’t say enough good things. The Everest Luxury Kongde Trek with heli return was beyond amazing. Mountain Rock Treks completely surpassed our expectations. Hiking through quiet trails and then hopping in a helicopter over Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar is truly one-of-a-kind. Our guide was so personable and knowledgeable that we felt safe and in good hands the whole time. The accommodations were luxurious, and the food was delicious. The helicopter ride back to Kathmandu - wow. Seeing Everest as we flew out of base camp was an experience we will never forget.
Our guide from Mountain Rock Treks made this journey extra special. He had amazing stories to tell about the region, looked after our safety and ensured that we had a great trip in every sense. We used a jeep for part of the track to conserve energy, and it was one of the most awesome off-road rides we have ever done. The trek itself was stunning, with Tilicho Lake being the highlight of the journey. Right from logistics to stay, everything was taken care of brilliantly. Would highly recommend it to people looking for an adventure well-managed trip.
The most unforgettable experience that I ever had with Mountain Rock Treks was with the Pokhara Valley tour. Since my arrival, this team ensured that everything flowed well and was well-organised. Davis Fall was so interesting, and the World Peace Pagoda was great. It was an extra special trip since professionalism and knowledge of the team impart in this fantastic adventure. Indeed, Pokhara is a treasure cave. I will go again to this city. Highly recommended is Mountain Rock Treks for any expedition in Nepal.
