How does the Everest circuit helicopter tour and Trek differ from the Everest base camp trek and Everest base camp helicopter tour?
Everest base camp trek and Everest base camp helicopter tour are the two favorite ways to explore the Khumbu region and reach the lap of the world's highest mountains. EBC trekking is a long 12 to 14 days or above trip. It requires good physical fitness, stamina, and prolonged walking hours for more than ten days.
On the other hand, the EBC helicopter tour is a 4-hour trip to the basecamp Everest. This is the ideal package for travelers who cannot trek to Everest base camp because of time limitations or looking for a last-minute adventure in the mountains.
These packages are very loved, but thousands of adventure hearts become part of it every year. So, the Everest Circuit Helicopter Tour lets one explore the Khumbu region and its wonders in an entirely distinct way. Unlike choosing between trekking or a helicopter tour, Everest Circuit Helicopter Tour combines both and keeps the Luxury journey relatively easy and short.
Everest Circuit Helicopter Tour and trek itinerary
Our Everest Circuit Helicopter Tour begins with a 45-minute helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Lukla airport (2,860 m). We'll pick you up from your hotel and drop you at the airport early in the morning for the helicopter flight. From Kathmandu, the helicopter takes off, and soon, you can see Ganesh Himal (7,422 m) and Langtang Lirung (7,234 m).
Gradually, flying over lush green hills and enjoying a breathtaking panorama of the snow-capped Himalayan mountain, we land at Lukla airport. We spend the night at Yeti Mountain Lodge in Lukla on this day. Lukla is the gateway to the Khumbu region. We'll explore the nearby areas and spend the day relishing the scenery.
The next day, we flew in a helicopter to Hotel Everest View (3,962 m). The flight will be around 15 minutes long from Lukla to Everest View Hotel. It is a luxury lodge known for the Mt. Everest view from all of its windows. The hotel’s contemporary interior and the wonderful setting amidst mountains & lush forests have won the hearts of a bazillion travelers.
From here, we descend to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) to spend the night in the same chain of Yeti Mountain Lodge. Our day in Namche Bazaar will be full of fun activities. We explore the village and the museum. Meet with locals and get to see the daily lifestyle of Sherpas. Namche Bazaar has many modern services, including many cafes and restaurants.
On the third day of our Everest Circuit Helicopter Tour, we further trek to Kongde. Leaving Namche Bazaar, we descend on a steep trail through dense forests. Passing by small settlement areas, lush forests, and streams, we reach Jorsale (2,740 m). Here onwards, we cross several suspension bridges. The trail passes by villages like Monjo (2,835 m), Chhumowa (2,760 m), Bengkar (2,630 m), and Toktok (2,760 m).
Further, we follow an uphill route through forested woodland to Kongde village. We spent the night in Yeti Mountain Home. That's all for trekking. We end this very day relaxing. The next morning begins with an adventurous flight to Pheriche (4,371 m), where we may stop to adjust the helicopter weight if the group has more than three passengers.
The helicopter flight continues to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) and ascends to Kala Patthar (5,644 m), where we land for 10 minutes. We do not land at EBC because of space issues and no views of Mt. Everest. Kala Patthar offers gorgeous sunrise and 360-degree views of the Himalayan mountains.
We cannot spend more than 10 minutes at Kala Patthar because of the risks of altitude sickness and flying over the Khumbu Glacier and Khumbu Icefall. At last, we see aerial views of the holy Gokyo Lake and gradually descend to Kathmandu. Our team will escort you to your hotel. Please take some time and leave your trip review.
