Annapurna Circuit Trek Budget  $1200-$1500 approx

Embarking on the Annapurna Circuit trek requires a certain level of financial preparedness. On average, the cost for the entire trek ranges between £430-£100/$500-$1200, depending on pre-arranged and paid-for expenses. Daily expenses for food and drink typically fall within the range of £22-40/$25-50. However, it is essential to note that these figures may vary based on the individual trekker's preferences and accommodations. Additionally, it is recommended to set aside a budget for tips and emergency contingencies.

To ensure a smooth and seamless trek, carry sufficient cash. The Annapurna Circuit does not have ATMs or card payment options. Therefore, it is advised to obtain all necessary funds before the trek and store them in a waterproof bag, which should be kept with other valuables, such as a passport, for safekeeping.

To make your journey as seamless and enjoyable as possible, we have streamlined the expense process to two primary costs: the trek package fee and international flights with us.

The trek package fee of US$1,200 covers virtually everything you will need once you step foot in Nepal, including transportation, accommodations, meals, and permits. This allows you to focus on the most critical aspects of your journey - preparing yourself physically and mentally and gathering the necessary equipment.

Your international flights will be the second main expense for your Annapurna Circuit adventure. Although this cost may vary depending on your departure location, we assure you that it will be worth every penny to witness the breathtaking views and immerse yourself in the unique culture of Nepal.

The cost of embarking on the Annapurna Circuit trek varies based on many factors, including the duration of the journey and the booking method. The longer the trek, the more expenses you will incur, such as lodging and sustenance. Opting for a package deal may be more cost-effective. However, arranging everything independently allows for greater flexibility and cost savings. In this scenario, obtaining permits, securing transportation and accommodation, and hiring guides and porters or carrying your gear will be your responsibility.

The Annapurna Conservation Area is a highly sought-after destination for trekkers; as such, all individuals seeking entry must obtain a permit.

Annapurna Conservation Area Permit

At our esteemed organization, we understand the importance of ensuring a seamless and hassle-free trekking experience for our esteemed clients undertaking the Annapurna Circuit. In this regard, we take pride in handling the procurement of the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit on your behalf. The Annapurna Conservation Area, established in 1985, is a premier protected area in Nepal, spanning an impressive area almost equivalent to New Jersey. The cost for an ACA permit is NPR 3,000, which roughly translates to €23. Allow us to take care of this essential aspect of your trekking journey so that you can focus on the exhilarating adventure ahead.

TIMS Card for Annapurna Circuit

To embark on the esteemed Annapurna Circuit trek, trekkers need Trekker's Information Management System (TIMS) Permit from the relevant government authorities. We have detailed information on Nepal trekking permits and fees (2023) available for your perusal to assist you in this process.

Let us take the burden of obtaining a TIMS permit off your shoulders by handling the process on your behalf. The cost of getting the permit is NPR 2,000 (or €15), a nominal fee for the privilege of experiencing the beauty of the Annapurna Circuit.

Cost of Food and Drink- 400-600 USD approx

As you ascend to higher elevations, be prepared for a proportional increase in food and beverage prices. Breakfast options range from 250-600 NPR per person, while lunch and dinner can cost between 500-1000 NPR per person.

For those looking to save on costs, consider ordering local vegetarian dishes, which are typically more affordable than western or meat-based options. It is also worth noting that consuming alcohol during your trek is not only expensive (with a 0.33l beer bottle costing around 500 NPR) but also not recommended at high altitudes.

In terms of water, drinking tap water in the Annapurna area is unsafe. Instead, tourists should use purifying tablets or purchase water from ACAP stations along the road, which is generally more cost-effective than plastic bottles. Water prices vary greatly depending on the elevation, with a 1-liter bottle costing as little as 25 NPR in the lowlands but up to 200 NPR at heights of 3000 meters or higher.

To save money in the long term, and reduce your environmental impact, consider investing in a water bottle with an integrated filter or a SteriPen before your trip. This will save money, help lower your plastic footprint, and support the local environment.

Cost of Accommodations- Total 180-250 USD approx

The Annapurna Circuit trek is a journey that will leave you with unforgettable memories and a newfound appreciation for the beauty of the Himalayas.

We've meticulously selected the top three hotels in each price category to make your decision-making process effortless. For those on a budget, Hotel Dalila Nepal is a perfect choice. And with a porter's capability to carry up to 15 kg, you can share the load with a friend and make the most of your experience. Insurance Cost In Annapurna Circuit Trek- $150-$500 approx

Reaching the summit of Annapurna Circuit is a truly exhilarating experience, with the highest point standing at an impressive 5416 meters/ 17769 ft above sea level. We understand the importance of having reliable travel insurance. It is not just our personal belief, but the Nepalese government also requires travelers to have insurance coverage for sports activities and climbs above 5000 meters/16404 ft.

When planning your Annapurna Circuit trek, it is essential to note that having a valid travel insurance number is mandatory when filling out the necessary permits, such as TIMS and ACAP.

One option to choose from is World Nomads, as they have crafted a comprehensive travel insurance policy specifically tailored for the modern traveler. Their coverage options are designed to protect your trip essentials and ensure you can travel with peace of mind. So, whether planning an adventure of a lifetime or simply exploring a new destination, travel smarter and safer with World Nomads.

Ensure your insurance provider safeguards against travel mishaps such as lost/delayed baggage, flight cancellation, tour cancellation, and medical expenses. However, securing a policy that caters to this specific need is imperative if you embark on a trek to high altitudes.

Many travel insurance policies only provide coverage above 4,000 meters/ 13123 ft. Meticulously review the policy details and ensure you are protected against the risks associated with high-altitude trekking, including medical air support. Suppose you intend to combine your Annapurna Circuit trek with challenging climbing endeavors (such as ropes, ice axes, and crampons) and secure mountaineering insurance.  The average cost for trekking insurance (excluding mountaineering) is approximately US$150 for a 30-day coverage period.

Gear and Equipment Budget- US$500 – $1,000 approx

We should prepare for our journey using premium trekking equipment, including down jackets, water purifying drops, necessary medications, and sturdy trekking poles.

Though the total cost of these items amounted to approximately $500- $1000, we assure you that the investment will be well worth it. Not only these essential items serve you well during our trek on the Annapurna Circuit, but they will continue to be valuable assets in your future adventures. You can purchase your gear in Kathmandu, where you can find a wide selection of high-quality equipment.

However, be mindful that top-of-the-line gear can be expensive, so keep an eye out for discounts and deals. Many local stores may offer equipment at a lower cost. Still, these items are often made from defective materials, despite bearing reputable labels such as Goretex. Don't compromise on quality. Ensure to buy the best gear for your safety and comfort.

Factoring in equipment cost can be a challenging aspect of planning a trek, as it varies greatly depending on your current inventory and the equipment you choose to acquire or rent. While renting may seem like a cost-effective solution for those not planning frequent treks, consider additional expenses and the need for more control over equipment quality.

You can buy items like Four season sleeping bag, Sleeping pad/ mattress, Warm jacket, Waterproof jacket, Trekking boots, Trekking poles, Trekking trousers, Trekking shirts and t-shirts, Warm gloves and thermal socks, Day pack and main pack, Sunglasses, sunscreen, and hat. The opportunity to secure the use of the above items is available at a nominal daily rate of $1 to $2. While renting, trekking boots may be available, but do not rent as they may have been previously molded to another individual's feet, potentially causing discomfort and blisters. On the other hand, renting a sleeping bag is a common and highly recommended practice.

Budget for Tips and Spending in Annapurna Circuit Trek- $250-350 approx

Before booking your trekking package, you must ensure that your tour operator is a respected Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) member. The NMA is dedicated to regulating the welfare of porters and guides working in Nepal, implementing crucial policies such as minimum wages, tips, and equipment standards. As you plan your journey, consider the etiquette of tipping in Nepal, which can be confusing. However, we recommend your budget tip your guide between $150 and $200 per person for an 18-day trek and your porter between $60 and $80 per person. A general rule of thumb is to tip around 10% of your trekking cost, though you are welcome to offer more or less depending on your satisfaction with the service provided.

In addition to budgeting for tipping, set aside funds for any additional activities and shopping you wish to engage in during your trip. The vibrant markets of Kathmandu offer a wealth of local crafts and souvenirs, as well as opportunities for sightseeing, so be sure to plan accordingly.
