The airfare for Indian passport holders on the route to EBC usually varies depending on the traveler's origin, the flight's seasonality, and the availability of flights. Generally, the return flight cost starts from roughly INR 10,000 and can extend to INR 14,000 or higher.

Journeying to the top of the mountain could be the most expensive - akin to a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. With a round-trip costing up to 20,000 INR per person, it should be remembered that the airline only permits a maximum of 10 kilos of luggage to be carried along. Thus, you ought to carefully select the possessions you bring to the trek and leave the rest in the comfort of your hotel in Kathmandu.

You could take a scenic jeep or bus ride from Kathmandu to Jiri and then trek up to Lukla. However, to comply with the new directive, passengers must retrace their steps from Lukla to Kathmandu via Ramechhap, necessitating an initial journey from Kathmandu.

The Manali airport, standing tall at an altitude of 474 meters above sea level, is situated 132 kilometers to the east of the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. Enclosed in the picturesque Tamakoshi River Valley of Manthali, it serves as the gateway to the beautiful Ramechhap District, the administrative headquarters of Manthali. The journey from Kathmandu to Manthali, though spanning 132 kilometers, would take approximately 4 to 5 hours to traverse by car.

Food Costs

Venturing to Everest Base Camp is not an inexpensive journey, particularly regarding food. All provisions must be carried in and can be costly - $25-$35 a day. Don't forget to come prepared with a bit of extra cash in case your supplies start to run thin. A bowl of nourishing dal bhat (lentils and rice) may set you back from $4 to $7, depending on the elevation of the teahouse. Don't forget your trail snacks, like chocolate bars, biscuits, and instant noodles, which can range from $1 to $5 each.

For a refreshing burst of hydration on your trek, a cup of warm boiled water will cost you anywhere from 3 to 10, depending on your location. Never turn down an opportunity for clean and safe drinking water, bring along plenty of purification tablets to keep your tank full. The region has enforced a ban on plastic bottles, so consider investing in some top-notch water filtration. Grayl and Lifestraw are two of the best-known brands on the trek, so taking one of these reusable bottles with you will guarantee safe and clean drinking water from any source. 

The cost of water is slightly higher than in other countries due to the terrain and availability. Bottled water along the route costs around Rs.50-500 per liter, and the water from the various rivers and streams can be significantly cheaper. However, it is essential to ensure that the water received is from a reliable source, as the cost of medical attention for water-borne illnesses far outweighs spending a bit more for a good quality water bottle.

It is always best to opt for vegetarian/vegan cuisine while on your journey, as meat that may be available cannot be trusted. Any meat found on the trail is usually flown from Kathmandu to Lukla and carried up by mules or porters. Therefore, determining how long it’s been without refrigeration can be complex. Additionally, it is essential to note that the Sherpa respects the animal kingdom, so they do not hunt or kill animals.

Travelers can reduce airfare costs by booking their tickets in advance and opting for a layover or two. This will help them secure cheaper seats. They can also purchase economy class round trip tickets with all airport taxes.

Day 3: Namche: Acclimatization and Rest Day

Today we will rest and reset in the beautiful Namche, the perfect place to get acclimatized. We'll explore the town, shop, and recharge for the next leg of our journey. Namche is a serene alpine escape that will fill us with new energy, helping us take the next step into higher altitudes. Take in the beauty of the lush green meadows, jagged mountain peaks, and the gentle hum of yak bells. Wake up early, take a leisurely hike through the hills, and soak in the Himalayas.

Day 4: Trek from Namche to Tengboche (3875m): 5-6 Hours

Day 4 of our adventure leads us from base camp to the highest peak!  We'll be leaving Namche and making our way upslope, navigating the mountainous terrain as we ascend higher and higher until we reach Tengboche's elevation at 3875m.  With each step we take, the view will grow more and more majestic until we can finally see the entire valley sprawled out before us.  We'll be on the move for 5-6 hours, stopping only to admire the beauty and breathe in the sweet mountain air.  

Day 5: Trek from Pangboche to Dingboche (4410m): 6-7 Hours

Day 5 of this incredible journey is a trekking day of great heights. We will be striding through the majestic Himalayas as we make our way to Dingboche. The trek is 6 to 7 hours, filled with breathtaking mountains and valley views. As we ascend, we will be rewarded with a sense of accomplishment that cannot be matched. 

Day 6: Rest day Dingboche (4410m)

Day 6 will be a much-needed rest day in Dingboche, where we all will be welcomed with a warm embrace. After a long and intense week of trekking, we will pause to take in the views of the majestic mountains that surrounded us and allow ourselves to soak in the peaceful atmosphere of this high-altitude haven. For a brief moment, time seemed to stand still as we took a breath to recuperate and recharge before the adventures of the following days.

Day 7:Trek to Lobuche (4910m): 5-6 Hours

Trekking from Tengboche to Dingboche can be a pleasant and leisurely journey. Explore the picturesque views, suspension bridges, and the Buddhist monastery right at Pangboche. As the trail ascends, the difficulty level increases, but the rewards are more significant. Glimpse the majestic views while keeping your body hydrated and fit enough to climb to an elevation of 4400 m above sea level. Enjoy every step of your beautiful journey, as it is nothing less than an adventure.

Day 8:Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5140m) to Everest Base Camp (5364m), back to Gorak Shep: 7-8 Hours

This itinerary on Day 8 would involve a long and strenuous trek up to the Everest Base Camp, located at 5364 meters above sea level. The trek begins at Lobuche, at an elevation of 5140 meters. The journey will take approximately 7-8 hours to reach Gorakshep, a settlement on Mount Everest's foot. From Gorakshep, the trek will continue to Everest Base Camp, located at the foot of the world's highest peak. After exploring the area, the trek will return to Gorak Shep for the night.| 

Day 9:Trek from Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5555m) to Pheriche (4220m): 7-8 Hours

The ascent towards Kalapathar will begin in the early morning. Upon reaching a leveled terrain, your sight will be graced with the splendor of Mt. Everest while the sun's rays delicately peek behind the colossal mountain. The return journey from Kalapathar to Gorakshep, including the optional Kala Patthar hike, will ensue, followed by an onward trip to Pheriche, located at 4320 meters. The descent from Thukla Pass will be crossed, and a parallel course will be taken towards Pheriche. Nestled on the banks of the Lobuche River, Pheriche is a quaint and picturesque hamlet, and the duration of travel for the day will range between 6-7 hours.

 Day 10:Trek from Pheriche to Namche (3443m): 6-7 Hours

From Pheriche, our journey leads us on a scenic path through dense, verdant rhododendron and juniper forests. Along the way, we may be fortunate enough to witness the fluttering of rare, exotic birds in their natural habitat. Passing through Tengboche and Phunki Tenga, we eventually reach the glistening Dudh Kosi River, where we cross a charmingly quaint suspension bridge. Finally, we ascend towards the enchanting Namche Bazaar, where our guest house accommodation awaits. Today's meals will be served as breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The highest altitude we will reach today is 3440.

Day 11:Trek from Namche to Phakding and then to Lukla (2850m): 5-6 Hours

Day 11 of the adventure takes you from Namche to Phakding and Lukla. The path meanders through thick forests, taking you past hidden communities and across many suspension bridges over the Dudh Kosi River. After reaching Monjo and completing the final crossing, you'll arrive at Phakding village before ascending towards your ultimate destination, Lukla. Your meals and accommodation will be taken care of in guesthouses along the way, and the maximum altitude reached will be 2840 meters.

Day 12:Flight back to Kathmandu(1320m)
