A day hike is important for people who want to go on a long trek. But, in the beginning, we acclimatize to Kathmandu's height because who comes from sea level, Kathmandu(1300meters) is high. So we suggest doing a short and nearest Nagarjun Jamacho Day Hike, located northwest of Kathmandu in Shivpuri Nagarjun National Park. Shivapuri Nagarjun National park, covered with the thick subtropical forest, is a preferable place for rock climbing, Kathmandu valley views, Himalayas views, Langtang, and Ganesh Himal views.
This hike starts with 20 minutes of drive to Mudkhu. after crossing the crowed of Kathmandu. We will be at the bottom of the hill with the green forest and get an entrance ticket. Entertaining 3 hours of the hike will pass through subtropical woodlands, including Pine, Oak, and Rhododendron. Along the way, we will see wild monkeys, known as white monkeys and red monkeys, different species of birds. Along the way, we meet various domestic and international tourists who go for a day trip. A small grassy clearing that faces south marks the completion of almost two-thirds of the climb, where the distant tower is visible at the top of the hill. The rest of the ascent to the top is moderately steep, which becomes strenuous towards the end of the Jamacho Peak (6300ft). We can see prayer flags, butter lamps, and small stupas. The view of Kathmandu is probably hazy most of the time unless you get lucky with recent rain. Mountain views towards the north include Manaslu, Langtang, Ganesh, etc. Finally, we hike down the same route and drive back to Thamel.
